Corrections and Updates Policy

Commitment to the Published Record

DeshiApp is dedicated to preserving the integrity, accuracy, and transparency of its published record. When a substantive error of fact or technical characterization is confirmed, we correct it promptly, openly, and in proportion to its significance. A transparent correction reflects journalistic integrity and institutional maturity rather than editorial weakness.

This policy outlines our procedures for minor copyedits, factual corrections, clarifications, substantive technical updates, editor’s notes, right-of-reply additions, content reclassifications, retractions, and complete removals. The appropriate remedy depends on the nature of the error, its dissemination, potential harm, and its impact on the article’s core thesis.

Scope

This policy encompasses articles, headlines, subheadings, captions, visual charts, video segments, newsletters, social media posts, author biographies, policy pages, metadata, sponsored features, and press announcements published across DeshiApp. Verified inaccuracies are rectified across all distribution channels.

Submitting a Correction Request

Correction requests should be transmitted to corrections@deshiapp.in. Effective requests specify the article title, permanent URL, exact sentence or metric in dispute, detailed explanation of the error, proposed factual correction, verifiable supporting documentation, and the requester’s identity or organizational affiliation. Sensitive personal documents should not be transmitted unless specifically requested.

Disagreement with an author’s analytical perspective, software rating, or opinion does not constitute a factual error. Nevertheless, DeshiApp examines whether underlying factual premises or benchmark data are inaccurate.

Acknowledgement and Review

DeshiApp strives to acknowledge specific, substantiated correction requests within two business days. Complex technical reviews involving reverse engineering, proprietary datasets, legal disputes, or multi-stakeholder interviews may require additional evaluation. Acknowledgment indicates receipt, not formal concurrence with the request.

Editorial review encompasses published text, research logs, primary sources, audio recordings, code commits, benchmark files, metadata tags, and formal responses from authors and affected platforms.

Correction Standard

A formal correction is mandated whenever published copy contains an empirical inaccuracy or materially misleading characterization. We assess whether technical data was wrong, critical context omitted, headline framing exaggerated, quotes misattributed, developer identities confused, numbers distorted, commercial ties concealed, or update timestamps manipulated.

A correction is never denied simply because the error originated from an official press release or external source. DeshiApp retains full responsibility for its published content.

Minor Copyediting

Minor typographical, grammatical, punctuation, and layout adjustments that do not alter technical meaning or factual substance are executed without public correction notes. Original publication dates remain unchanged during routine copyediting.

However, a change in numbers, software versions, API endpoints, corporate names, or attribution parameters is always treated as material and accompanied by a formal note.

Material Factual Corrections

Substantive factual corrections feature a conspicuous public notice detailing the original inaccuracy, the verified correct information, the amendment timestamp, and whether the article’s analytical conclusion was altered. We never deploy vague phrases like ‘this story has been updated’ to mask factual corrections.

Correction notices follow a standardized format: ‘Correction (Date): An earlier version of this article misstated [specific fact]. The correct information is [clarification]. The article has been amended accordingly.’ The notice remains permanently appended to the article.

Headline, Identity and Numerical Corrections

Inaccuracies within headlines, visual charts, or developer identities receive urgent remediation because headlines and graphics circulate widely across social feeds. The headline is amended, metadata refreshed, social preview caches purged where possible, and an explanatory notice appended.

Identity errors—such as misidentifying a software founder, mixing up companies with similar names, or attributing a security flaw to the wrong codebase—are corrected immediately. Quantitative corrections explicitly clarify currency mismatches, percentage-point errors, or confusion between download figures and active user metrics.

Clarifications

A clarification is published when original wording was not factually false but was ambiguous, poorly contextualized, or susceptible to misinterpretation. The clarification note explains the nuance added while confirming the underlying factual foundation remains valid.

Substantive Updates

A substantive update incorporates significant new developments occurring after initial publication—such as a security patch release, a regulatory ruling, a follow-up corporate statement, or fresh benchmark data. Update notices specify newly added information while preserving the original publication timestamp.

The ‘Updated’ timestamp is modified only when substantive reporting or critical data is incorporated, never for trivial formatting or link maintenance.

Editor’s Notes

An editor’s note provides overarching context regarding significant investigations, ongoing legal disputes, newly disclosed conflicts of interest, or substantial editorial restructurings. The note informs readers transparently without prematurely asserting that a complex dispute is resolved.

Rights of Reply

Substantive responses or technical counterarguments submitted by coverage subjects following publication may be incorporated into the article to provide balanced public record. The addition clearly documents when the response was received and whether it affects the article’s core findings.

Commercial and AI-Related Corrections

Failure to disclose a commercial collaboration or affiliate relationship results in immediate corrective labeling, conflict notices, and potential retraction. Concealed commercial sponsorship is treated as a major editorial breach.

If automated AI tools introduce fabricated references, synthetic hallucinations, or distorted technical summaries, the error is rectified with an explicit disclosure acknowledging the role of automation.

Date and Metadata Corrections

Publication dates and structured metadata must accurately reflect publishing history. DeshiApp rectifies incorrect timestamps, time zone errors, and automated CMS date refreshes. We never manipulate timestamps to simulate artificial freshness in search engines.

Social, Newsletter and External Distribution

When a significant inaccuracy is distributed via social media, email newsletters, or RSS feeds, DeshiApp issues corrections through the identical channels. This may include corrective social posts, newsletter correction banners, or refreshed syndication feeds.

Retraction

A full retraction is executed when an article’s foundational claims are proven false, research was fabricated, significant plagiarism occurred, or pervasive conflicts compromised the entire piece. Retraction notices detail the specific grounds for withdrawal, leaving the original URL intact with an archival notice.

A retraction note provides full transparency regarding the editorial failure, avoiding vague justifications so readers understand precisely why the piece was decommissioned.

Removal

Permanent content deletion is reserved for extraordinary circumstances involving judicial orders, unlawful personal data exposure, severe security vulnerabilities, or immediate risks to physical safety. Where removal occurs, the URL displays a general explanatory notice.

Where legally permissible, the designated URL preserves a brief explanatory notice outlining the public-interest justification for removal without repeating the underlying harmful data.

Search and De-Indexing Requests

DeshiApp does not unpublish accurate public-interest reporting merely because it is commercially inconvenient or ranks prominently on search engines. Legitimate requests involving spent legal proceedings, private individuals, or extreme personal harm are evaluated on case-by-case merits.

Determinations weigh historical accuracy, public record integrity, individual privacy, and legal mandates.

Archive Corrections

Historical and early-stage publication archives remain fully subject to our corrections framework. Material inaccuracies identified in archived articles are corrected and documented in accordance with this policy.

Corrections Log

All material factual corrections, retractions, and substantive updates are permanently chronicled in our publicly accessible Public Corrections Log, documenting dates, URLs, issues addressed, and remedies deployed.

Disputes and Appeals

Where reputable technical sources disagree, DeshiApp reflects the dispute objectively rather than adopting a preferred narrative. Disputed decisions may be escalated through our formal Editorial Complaints Procedure.

Appeals must articulate specific methodological flaws, overlooked documentation, or misapplication of standards.

No Retaliation and Internal Learning

Good-faith correction requests are treated professionally and constructively. Legitimate technical critique is recognized as a vital mechanism for improving newsroom rigor. Systemic errors prompt workflow audits and training updates to prevent recurrence.

DeshiApp treats every correction as an opportunity to reinforce journalistic precision, enhance developer dialogue, and solidify reader trust.
